"The Robbery," Scenes B and C

We go to the "girls' bedroom - the next night":

LAVERNE ENTERS SINGING "TERROR OF HIGHWAY 101".  LAVERNE IS RACING AROUND THE ROOM GETTING READY.

Onscreen she gargles in the bathroom before she enters and she doesn't seem to especially be in a hurry.  In the script, Laverne waits on Forest Avenue for Jake, rather than Sedgwick Avenue.

Onscreen, Shirley says it sounds like Laverne is describing Attila the Hun, but here's how it goes in the script:

SHIRLEY
Sounds like you're describing Godzilla.

LAVENRE
I wouldn't date Godzilla.

SHILREY
Of course not.  He was a disgusting murderous, vicious motorcycle hoodlum -- I mean reptile.

The next scene is set in the "living room - continuous action - night."  For some reason, the potential dates to the stock car races were "Terri Butafuco's [that spelling] cousin's friend's brothers," and this got changed to the more confusing "cousin's brother's friends."  Other than that and a some little touches like Laverne's big pause before thinking of Carmine's cold showers,  and Shirley laughing defensively before calling Carmine, the scene is intact.

A few thoughts:
  • I wonder if they couldn't get the rights for "Terror of Highway 101" (which I've never heard), or if they just thought gargling was funnier.
  • Aww, another Godzilla reference.  And that could've been a Hello Moment, although an awkward one.
  • I wonder if Penny screwed up the line about the stock car dates and they just decided to leave it in.

Once again, I'm reluctantly writing another non-obituary for a star of Laverne & Shirley .  Three times in just over three years is ...
